A NEW DAY DAWNING
Robert D. Klingensmith, DC, DAAPM Executive Dir.
Welcome to Sacro Occipital Technique Organization-USA. SOTO-USA is a non-profit organization formed to promote the awareness, understanding and utilization of the Sacro Occipital Technique method of chiropractic as founded and developed by Dr. Major Bertrand DeJarnette. Over 70 years in the development, largely by Dr. DeJarnette and aided by the collaborative efforts and research assistance from many famous names in the history of the health care profession, SOT offers an indicator based, comprehensive approach to patient assessment and treatment.
The mission of Sacro Occipital Technique Organization (SOTO) USA
is to acknowledge, preserve, disseminate, and expand
the work of Dr. M.B. DeJarnette.
Furthermore, SOTO-USA seeks to provide an open forum
for the interdisciplinary exchange of information
as it relates to Sacro Occipital Technique (S.O.T.) and its advancement.
Eyes wide open to the future. As we are not islands unto ourselves, SOTO-USA offers an interdisciplinary forum for exchanging ideas and an inter-professional opportunity for networking and association. At the annual meetings, all persons (and organizations) that have a shared belief that patient care is paramount and that knowledge and information provide us the tools to offer our patients the finest care will be embraced.
In today's climate of health care reform, managed care cutbacks, and utilization reviews, there is an ever increasing need for us to expand the awareness of what we do and how our services can aid other professionals in the care of their patients. And likewise, through the open exchange of ideas and knowledge of other allopathic and alternative practitioners, we offer our patients the benefits of our association in the multi-disciplinary health care community.
That having been said, allow me to be the first to invite you to the first inaugural SOTO-USA Annual Clinical Symposium to be held August 24-27, 2000 at the Radisson Hotel O'Hare in Chicago. This conference setting offersconvenient accessibility, a rich historic downtown, and all the amenities of a big city' metropolis without losing the hospitality and charm of a Midwest hometown.
A meeting designed by the members. The Conference Committee has designed the Annual Meeting based on the comments and suggestions polled from members in the desire to offer a preeminent event first class in content, participation and organization. Topics will include anatomy and physiology of the various SOT categories, diagnostics, treatment approaches, patient management, and practice management issues. As a meeting of a learned society, our Annual Conference will attract other forward-thinking health care professionals from clinical practice, business, government and the judiciary.
You will learn not only SOT, but share and learn beyond the borders of your own profession as well as others.
This year's inaugural meeting will offer a special presentation by Dr. George Goodheart. Dr. Goodheart and Dr. DeJarnette shared many years in close association developing the techniques that offer help to so many people today. This is an opportunity no one will want to miss.

Times are a'changin. As we look around, it is apparent things are changing. This has caused many to wonder if these changes are a harbinger of a new dawn or a setting sun. What is clear is that the rate of social change is quickening and practitioners must remain ever vigilant in their abilities to champion quality care.
For SOTO-USA, the light on the horizon is the dawning of a new day,... a new way. A quote from Major General William C. Lee when addressing the troops of the 101st airborne on their first ever deployment seems quite appropriate to the new day for SOTO-USA:
"We have no history, but we have
a rendevous with destiny."
We all share the same future. Come check out SOTO-USA and see how we can share the same destiny.
