WHY READ JOURNALS?
Dana Lawrence, DC,

We are living today in an age of such vast information expansion that it defies description. At the same time we are seeing changes in the manner in which health care is delivered to our patients. This requires our profession to rely upon new scientific information as never before: managed care organizations are requiring proof of efficacy, where possible, before they will agree to pay for service. Yet WHERE is this information coming from?
One of the most effective ways to stay current with this information is to actually read it. True, it requires an investment in money and time. But journals provide the most up-to-date source of new, high quality information and science. Yet few within chiropractic read them. This is, in part, due to the difficulties inherent in trying to wade through oceans of statistical jargon that seems to carry little immediate relevance. But buried within those statistics are the very mechanisms and procedures of the future. Even should you not read them , they will form the future standard of care and you will be accountable for them.
I implore you to read chiropractic journals. They will keep you current and will ultimately aid your patients.....and THAT should always be the bottom line.
