Evaluation and Care for Lumbosacral Pain American Academy of
Pain Management Washington DC, Sep 1996.
The low back pain patient may present with a variety of symptoms
representing a full spectrum of possibilities of disease states or
injuries. A detailed history and complete examination process provides
the facts from which an accurate diagnosis can be made. An accurate
diagnosis is paramount to establishing and providing an effective
treatment plan. The treatment plan should address all perpetuating,
compensating and co-morbidity factors that were indicated from the
detailed history and examination process.
Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) protocol for the treatment of
lumbosacral pain is presented with an introduction into the SOT
category system of analysis and chiropractic manipulative reflex
techniques (CMRT). Examination forms are also presented, some that
include acupuncture or eastern healing philosophies. Chiropractic
treatment frequently utilizes various forms of manipulation,
physiological therapeutic modalities, nutrition, exercises and
lifestyle and/or work habits counseling for treatment of varying
conditions related to lumbosacral pain.
